I've just started a new blog Credit Crunch Cookbook which is a humble effort to provide information and tools for surviving and even thriving in the hard and challenging economic times in which we live. Or as the tag line reads "Recipes for surviving and thriving in hard economic times" - more like the "Anarchist's Cookbook" than recipes for preparing meals on a budget. Although if anyone has some good and "thrifty" vegetarian or vegan recipes please do send them on.

Having attended this course in Gort, September 2008, I can wholeheartedly recommend it. I revived my knowledge of electrics and woodworking skills, learnt some welding and took part in building a wind turbine from scratch (shown below in the video). There were lots of interesting people to meet on the course, not forgetting the most gracious hosts - Marion and Flor - an excellent experience all round...

A bounty of fresh ideas and innovative ways to enhance the way we live in and with our magnificent North West region will be showcased at the 2nd annual The Future is Local week-end, Oct. 26 & 27, 2008, at the Dock, Carrick-on-Shannon.
