Greetings fellow Permakulchies,

The next Pucheen Fayre is taking place on Saturday the 21st July in McGirls Bar, Ballinamore, Leitrim.

The day's schedule is as follows:

Films on a big screen...

12.30pm – 1.30 pm Visionaries: In Grave Danger of Falling Food. (55 mins)

Bill Mollinson, Australian designer and author, thinks the greatest threat to our planet is agriculture. He maintains that modern agricultural practices are destroying our soil and water and produce increasingly poisonous food. His alternative is the 'permaculture' concept which turns even the smallest city garden into a fertile eco-system that can provide most of the food for an average family.

1.45pm – 2.45pm The Linux Code (60 mins)

In 1991, a 20-year old Linus Torvalds, a thin, bespectacled, Swedish- speaking Finnish computer science student sends a posting to an Internet newsgroup asking for advice on how to make a better operating system. His project is a hobby, he says, and would never become ‘big and professional’. But in ten years he and his loose alliance of hackers all over the world creates an operating system – Linux – that challenges Windows 2000 for the server market and is now poised to dominate the next generation of handheld and desktop computers. What makes Linux different, and deeply troubling for traditional software companies, is that no one owns it. Every user is free to adapt it in any way they wish, as long as they pass it on to others on the same terms.

3.00pm – 4.00pm Forest Gardening with Robert Hart (50 mins)

Robert Hart, who died recently, was the pioneer of forest gardening, and this video looks at his forest garden and explains how forest gardens work. Also goes on to look at how his work inspires other projects, Michael Guerra's suburban garden and Plants for a Future in Cornwall.

4.00pm – 5.00pm

Terry McGrogan will speak on building with Hemp & Lime and other natural materials.

5.00pm – 7.00pm Zeitgeist - (120 mins)

“They must find it difficult…. Those who taken authority as the truth, rather than truth as the authority.” - Gerald Massey

A 2 hour documentary discussing astronomy, religion, war, conspiracy, and banking.

7.30pm – 8.30pm The Last Bill Hicks Show (66 mins)

William Melvin Hicks, better known as Bill Hicks, (December 16, 1961 – February 26, 1994), was a controversial American stand-up comedian, satirist and social critic. Comedian Richard Pryor figured largely as an inspiration and stand-up idol for Hicks, as did Woody Allen who also served strongly as a very early influence for a pre-teen Hicks. Hicks characterized his own performances as "Chomsky with dick jokes".

8.30 – Late – DJ Willie plays Roots Rock Reggae and Live Music with the Pucheen Players - Play an instrument ? Bring it along and enjoy the craic!

As usual we will have a few stalls including local organic food, books, cosmetics, trees/plants, kids corner and more...
